Revolution 5 – including the final of the 112th Austral Wheelrace
The fifth Australian edition of the Revolution franchise offers by far the deepest field to ever contest this electric night of top shelf track cycling action. With Olympic stars like Graeme Brown and Anna Meares; Pro Tour riders including Cam & Trav Meyer and Jack Bobridge; and a 14 deep sprint field lead by Australian Shane Perkins and featuring fast men form NZ, Malaysia and the USA; its a night not to be missed.
A five strong Kiwi team has made the trip across the ditch, including reigning triple junior world champion Sam Webster; national madison champions Tom Scully and Shane Archbold; and world omnium champion Hayden Godfrey. After a four medal performance at the recent Melbourne Track World Cup, the Kiwis seem to like Hisense Arena and will certainly be keen to keep the momentum going.
All of these quality riders combine to create what is arguably the strongest field in the 122-year history of the famous Austral Wheelrace. There’s a very good chance the title could go off shore for the first time since American Bill Martin won from scratch in 1901 . Although defending champ Perkins might have a thing of two to say about that.
